I Start To Wonder...

Today, I took a bus ride to downtown Ottawa. I love riding the bus, I like being in the middle of all the chaos and rushing people. Downtown Ottawa is a great place to just sit and take it all in. Everyone is rushing around going to work, on lunch break or shopping.

On the bus, I love to people watch. Yeah, I know, sounds kind of “stalker-ish” but it’s really intriguing. People are in their own little world listening to their iPod or MP3 players, talking on their cellphones or texting. Or just staring out the window dreaming. When I look at these people, I start to wonder. All these questions go through my mind.

There is an older woman, mid fifties sitting in the first seat on the left. I start to wonder. Where does she live? How many kids does she have? How is her health? Where is she going right now? There is a younger woman with a baby stroller sitting across from the older woman. She looks about no more then twenty years old. I start to wonder. How old is her child? Is that child hers, or is she babysitting? If it is her child, does she have a partner who is helping to support them? Where are they going? Last one. There’s two woman sitting together chatting across from me.. I would say they look about thirty years old. I start to wonder. How do they know each other? Do they work together? What are they laughing about? Where are they headed?

As I start to wonder all these things, I notice one thing in common.

Everyone is headed in their OWN direction. Even though the bus takes them to their requested stop, doesn’t mean that’s their destination.

Doesn’t mean by the end of the day, that’s where they want to go.

Some people go home dealing with- acceptance, anger, addictions, dating and relationships, depression, marriage, money, parents, peer pressure, problems at work/school, and the list goes on! That’s just some examples, that’s all I can think of at this moment.

I start to wonder. The girl that is sitting beside me listening to her iPod, what is she going to face when she gets home? The man sitting three seats in front of me. What is he going to face when he gets home? Everyone has problems at home. Could be big or small. Maybe they don’t even have a place to call home.

Sometimes we come to that four-way intersection in the road. We just don’t know which road to take. One road looks pretty tidy, less people and less traffic. Looks like a good road but it leads you back where you started. The another two roads have other peoples garbage laying around, just very dirty and too busy with people. One road left.

A one way street.

Leads to Jesus.

I'll leave you with these lyrics.

I lay my life down at Your feet
Cause You're the only one I need
I turn to You and You are always there

In troubled times it's You I seek
I put You first that's all I need
I humble all I am all to You

One way
Jesus
You're the only one that I could live for
One Way
Jesus
You're the only one that I could live for

You are always, always there
Every how and everywhere
Your grace abounds so deeply within me

You will never ever change
Yesterday today the same
Forever till forever meets no end

You are the Way the Truth and the Life
We live by faith and not by sight for You
We're living all for You

When times become rough and you don’t know which road to take, or which bus stop to get off at, just remember- one way, Jesus.

Someone's Gotta Say It...

Dating in the teen years...

Everyone knows that a relationship won’t last a lifetime... well... unless your planning on getting married.

That’s only your two choices in life.

Break up or get married.

When the break up comes along, it will hurt, there will be tears, it will be over. Once your in a relationship, you have to accept the fact that it won’t last. Be prepared.

Knowing this, it will make your relationship that you have more valuable.

You know you have a “short” time together so you start to appreciate the time you both spend together.

Relationships and break ups are a great distraction. It messes with your view and goals that you have at that time. We shouldn’t be worrying so much, or running around chasing boys/girls.

When we do this, we stop growing spiritually. We suddenly don’t have the time for God.

We get to caught up with relationships and dating and chasing. We put God to the side and focus on the relationship we want to have with this boy/girl.

We should be focusing on our relationship on God first.

Baseball and Broken Hearts

I’ve been playing baseball since I was five years old. Little League Tee Ball. I’ve always have a passion for baseball, I was so into it when I was smaller, and that passion grew bigger and bigger. When I was smaller, I always thought the best part of the game was when it was my turn to hit. I would swing that bat so hard and run as fast as I could to first base. I didn’t really enjoy playing outfield at the time. Most of the other kids were either sitting down, or playing in the sand, or standing there with their glove on their head. I was there to play the game! I was easily frustrated with the other kids. I was a pretty competitive kid at that age.

I got my first baseball trophy when I was 5 years old. I thought it was the coolest thing ever! I was so proud of myself. At the age of five, anything like that, something that you won or achieved, it was the best feeling ever.

We lived in Pembroke at the time in a town house. Near our house, there was the neighbourhood basketball court. (Which was a sweet hang out at the age of five) The day I won that baseball trophy, I was showing everyone. I decided to take it over to the basketball court to show the other kids.

That was the worse day of my life.

I dropped it.

The head on the trophy smashed on the pavement. I walked home crying and showed my mom. Later on that week, she took it downtown to get it fixed at the jewelry place. Once it was fixed, I thought it was even better then before. The man that fixed it for me, he personalized it, he changed the head on the trophy to a girls head. It shows a girl standing, holding a bat over her shoulder. I was the happiest kid on the block. (The trophies that got handed out, usually, most likely, had a boy on it.)

Sometimes you need to break things and get them fixed to become something even better.

Relationships work the same way.

You could go through a bad relationship, thinking it’s the worst. Once you go through the heartbreak and tears, it wears off and you move on. Once its time, you might be ready to be in a new relationship. And you know, this one is going to be better then the last! Once you get your heart broken, and move on, you will find something better! You will have to go through the break up, and the tears, and the pain. But in the end, you will get something better out of it. This is because- once you figure out what ruin the relationship from before, the things that didn’t work, you can fix that and make it work for the next relationship.

I cried over my broken trophy and I cried over a broken heart. But, in the end, I got a WAY cooler trophy then any girl could imagine and I got a WAY better relationship then any girl could ever want. Remember, all after the pain and tears, you will get something better!
